Getting started
What is Chiku?
Chiku is a curious little companion that looks at your old photos with you, asks gentle questions out loud, and turns the conversation into a Talkie your family can keep.
Who is Chiku for?
Chiku is made for the storyteller in all of us. Many people set it up for a parent.
Do I need to be good with technology?
Not at all. If you can use an iPhone or an iPad, you can use Chiku!
Which devices does Chiku work on?
Chiku is currently only available on iPhones and iPads.
Conversations
How does a conversation with Chiku work?
Tap a photo. Chiku asks one curious question out loud, listens to your answer, and follows wherever the memory goes.
Can I use old printed photos?
Yes. Use your iPhone or iPad to take a photo of a print, or pick any photo from your iPhone or iPad.
What if I don’t remember much about a photo?
That is perfectly fine. Chiku starts with what it can see and gently helps the memories come back. You can skip any question.
How long is a conversation?
As long or short as you like. Stop whenever you want, and pick it up another day.
Talkies
What is a Talkie?
A Talkie is your memory, retold by Chiku in its own voice over the photo. It is short, warm and easy to share.
Does Chiku change my story?
Chiku does its best to capture the story behind your photo. But it is not perfect and sometimes makes mistakes.
Can I edit or delete a Talkie?
Not right now, but you can always add to your Talkie.
Family sharing
Who can see my Talkies?
Only the people you invite to your family circle. Nothing is public.
How do I invite my family?
Send an invite link from the app. Family members can watch, reply and add what they remember.
Can my family add their own memories?
Yes. Anyone in the circle can reply to a Talkie and add the parts they remember.
Safety & Security
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything you share is encrypted with industry-standard security, and only the people you choose can see it.
Is my voice recorded without my permission?
Never. Chiku only records a conversation with your permission. And every Talkie is told in Chiku’s voice, never yours.
Is Chiku an AI?
Yes. Chiku is an AI companion and is always honest about that.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings at any time.
Is my data sold, or used to train AI?
Never. Your data is never sold, there are no ads, and your stories and conversations are never used to train AI models.
Plans & pricing
Is Chiku free?
Chiku is free for the first 100 users. After that, we’ll offer monthly and annual plans.
Is there a family plan?
Not right now, but one is coming soon.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancel any time within the app or by contacting us.
